THIS IS DOWNTOWN

The Central Business District (CBD), better known as Downtown, is the historic heart of Miami and home to the Government Center, a compact area that harbors civic buildings and courthouses.

Downtown offers walking distance attractions such as the FTX Arena, designed by Architectonica, and four distinct museums:  the Perez Art Museum, featuring contemporary art works, the Frost Museum of Science, with a state-of-the-art planetarium, the History Miami Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, and the Museum of Art and Design located at the historic Freedom Tower, Miami’s first skyscraper built in 1925.

Also located in downtown are Bayfront Park, Miami’s first public gathering space,  Ferré Park, a 21-acre public urban area that features a waterfront baywalk, and the adjacent Entertainment District home to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, a concert hall and opera house partly built on the site of of the first commercial Art Deco building in Miami.

There are three projects under construction that will significantly impact the landscape of downtown: The Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences, set to become Miami’s tallest building, the Flagler Street Beautification, aimed to transform Flagler Street into an enriched pedestrian experience with expanded sidewalks, large shade trees and outdoor café dining.  And, last but not least, the Miami Worldcenter, a destination that will bring new energy to downtown Miami, offering a unique blend of residential buildings, hotels, open air curated retail stores and restaurants, aimed to be concluded by 2025.

This site is also adjacent to MiamiCentral, a mixed-use railroad station development home to the Brightline express train.  Brightline currently offers a train service to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, the service will also be extended to Orlando in 2023.

Downtown’s transformation is bringing new energy to the neighborhood and promises to reshape it into a dynamic destination to experience culture, history, and entertainment.
